Dopo più di settant’anni dalla loro fondazione nel 1944, i Golden Globe Awards continuano ad essere uno dei momenti topici nella stagione dei Premi della Critica americana pre-Oscars, merito il loro spirito glamour e l’essere da sempre a ridosso delle nominations di quest’ultimi (se, infatti, essi prendono vita il 7 gennaio, le nominations degli Academy Awards avvengono fra il 5 ed il 12 dello stesso mese).
La famosa premiazione riguarda sia il settore cinematografico che quello televisivo ed è ad ora una delle più conosciute al grande pubblico.
Quest’anno i favoriti sembrano essere The Shape of Water di Guillermo del Toro (con 7 nominations), film particolarmente apprezzato al Festival di Venezia di quest’anno, il nuovo film di Steven Spielberg The Post (con 6 nominations) e Tre Manifesti a Ebbing, Missouri di Martin McDonagh (anch’esso con 6 nominations).
Creano, invece, un particolare interesse la nomination come Miglior Film Straniero per First they Killed my Father di Angelina Jolie (produzione per metà cambogiana) e quella di Miglior Attore Non Protagonista a Christopher Plummer in Tutti i Soldi del Mondo, rimpiazzo last minute di Kevin Spacey (allontanato dopo le accuse di violenza sessuale che hanno fatto scalpore nei mesi passati).
